MEASURING THE FOOT
8 measurements of the foot and an imprint are used to change the last to your foot requirements. Ensuring a proper fit.
Leather choice is made. Exotics such as kangaroo, Alligator, or ostrich. Bullhides, water buffalo, pig, kidd, bison,or calf skins are also available.
The client may bring their own design idea or pick from the MCL design gallery. These designs range from a one row stitch design to an ornate inlay. Client also picks boot height, beading colors, ear pull styles, heel and toe profiles. Creating a one of a kind boot.
MAKING THE BOOT
The leather choices are patterned and then the design is stitched. After the top work is done the boot parts are assembled, ready to last.
The last is modified to each clients measurements. Either a build up or a sanding is used in each area to ensure a proper fit.
The boot is stretched around the last and left to dry. The toe puff is installed and the boot takes on the shape of the last. Creating the fit just for the client.
Bottom work is then completed by hand. Stitching the welt, wood pegging the shank, stitching the sole, and stacking the heel blocks.
Finally the boots are cleaned, bottoms are stained, and the boot is conditioned.
